Perennial herb to 1 m tall. Leaves lanceolate, to 15 cm long, to 3 cm wide, long-petiolate. Capitula to 1 cm across; summer. [×S. hybridus Wehrh., Aster ptarmicoides Hort., A. luteus Hort., ×Asterago lutea Everett.]

Presumed Aster ptarmicoides (Nees) Torr. & A. Gray × Solidago?.

Garden origin

Recent work has placed Aster ptarmicoides in Solidago as S. ptarmicoides. This taxon is then no longer an intergeneric hybrid and requires the name Solidago ×luteus.
