Rudbeckia fulgida Aiton

Perennial herb to 1 m tall, hairy. Stems branched. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, to 12 cm long, margins entire. Capitula radiate, in small groups, to 7 cm across; summer to autumn. Ray florets yellow or orange. Disk florets purplish brown. Pappus a 4-toothed crown.

A variable species with a number of varieties recognised.
