Perennial herb or shrub to 2 m tall, hairy. Stems much-branched. Leaves more or less round, to 20 cm long, to 20 cm wide, margins palmately lobed, densely hairy below. Capitula radiate, in corymbose panicles, to 2.5 cm across, on short stalks; mostly spring. Ray florets yellow. Disk florets yellow. Achenes 2.5-4 mm long, yellowish, glabrous.
