Florist's Cineraria

Variable perennial herb to 1m tall, cushion-like or upright, hairy. Stems procumbent to erect, branched. Leaves almost circular to ovate, to 15 cm long, to 15 cm wide, margins toothed or lobed, hairy. Capitula in corymbs, to 5 cm across; spring and summer. Ray florets white, pink, red, purple or blue, sometimes bicoloured. Disk florets yellow. [Cineraria hybrida Willd., Senecio hybridus Regel, S. hybridus Hyl.]

Garden origin, probably England

A hybrid with major parents P. lanata (L'Hér.) B. Nord. × P. cruenta (L'Hér.) B. Nord., although other species may also be involved.
