Heliopsis helianthoides subsp. scabra (Dunal) T.R. Fisher

Perennial herb to 1.5 m tall, hairy. Stems erect. Leaves ovate to lanceolate, to 15 cm long, to 8 cm wide, margins coarsely toothed, upper ones sometimes entire. Capitula solitary or few together, to 7.5 cm across; autumn. Ray florets pale to dark yellow. Disk florets yellow. Achenes to 5 mm long, glabrous. Pappus of 2 or 3 scales or a crown.
