Perennial herb to 1.5 m tall, stoloniferous, usually hairy. Stems erect or ascending, simple or branched. Leaves ovate to round, to 12 cm long, margins entire to lobed, petiolate. Capitula solitary, to 5 cm across, long-stalked; spring. Ray florets yellow. Disk florets yellow. Achenes obovate, 2-2.5 mm long, with narrow, incurved, thickened wings. Pappus a minute crown.
