Brachyglottis greyi (Hook.f.) B.Nord.

Shrub to 2.5 m tall. Stems erect, with spreading branches. Leaves only along stems, oblong to ovate, to 8 cm long, entire to shallowly toothed, white-hairy below, petiolate. Capitula to 3 cm across, in large terminal corymbs; summer. Ray florets bright yellow. Achenes silky. Pappus to 4 mm long. [Senecio greyi Hook. f.]

B. laxifolia (Buchanan) B. Nord. from the S Island of New Zealand is medium shrub with elliptic to lanceolate entire or toothed leaves, capitula to 2 cm across, yellow ray florets and dark reddish disk florets. [Senecio laxifolius Buchanan]

B. Dunedin Hybrids are hybrids involving B. compacta (Kirk) B. Nord., B. greyii and B. laxifolia and were first recorded from the Dunedin Bot. Garden, New Zealand, between 1910 and 1913. [Senecio laxifolius hort.]
