Climbing plant or shrub to 3 m or more tall, the branches slender and slightly sticky. Leaves to 10 cm long, more or less ovate, leathery. Flowers axillary, solitary or occasionally paired, the corolla cylindrical, roughly hairy and 4-lobed, bright red, tipped with yellow. [M. bicolor Hook. f., M. inflata Sprague]
