Grass Triggerplant

Perennial herb. Leaves grass-like, tufted, linear, 5-25 cm long, 2-6 mm wide. Flower cluster to about 15 cm long on the 30-40 cm long flower stalk. Flowers 0.5-1 cm long, pale pink to deep magenta, with a red column; late winter to early summer. Fruit capsule to about 1 cm long.

S. bulbiferum Benth., Circus Triggerplant, from WA is a small, stoloniferous, glandular plant to about 15 cm tall with flowers red, pink or white, with red spots at the base of the petal lobes.

S. soboliferum F. Muell., Grampians Triggerplant, from Vic is a herb with narrowly oblanceolate leaves that generally have a long hair at the tip.

S. spathulatum R. Br., Creamy Triggerplant, from WA has glandular, spoon-shaped leaves and creamy flowers on stalks to 40 cm long.
