Woody climber. Leaves bipinnate. Leaflets ovate, up to about 3 cm long, asymmetrically cordate, entire or saw-toothed. Flower clusters about 10-15 cm long. Flowers about 2.5 cm long, orange-red, upper part of floral tube swollen, lobes rounded; through summer and autumn. Fruit a capsule, to about 4 cm long.
Chile
As it flowers in a single season, it is sometimes grown as an annual.
Tresco Hybrids are sometimes listed and are probably colour selections grown as annuals.
