Boobialla

Shrub or small tree. Leaves elliptic,mostly 6-12 cm long,1-3 cm wide, with a tapered tip, margins entire or obscurely toothed, upper and lower surfaces of different green. Flowers 3-8 on stalks 0.5-1cm long, about 6 mm wide,white with purple dots; winter to spring. Fruit ovoid, about 0.5 cm wide, wrinkled, purplish black.

Plants grown as this species may in fact be M. montanum R. Br., Western Boobialla (Water Bush), which differs in having a smooth-surfaced fruit.
