Wishbone Flower

Herb 20-30 cm tall with 4-angled stems. Leaves to about 6 cm long, ovate, pointed, toothed, long-stalked. Flowers with velvety petals. Calyx with 5 wings. Corolla more or less 2-lipped, the trumpet-like tube to 5 cm wide, mostly bluish, with a yellowmarked throat; summer.

Vietnam

Grown as a summer-flowering annual or occasionally a pot plant and available in a range of seed selections with slight colour and habit variations, also a range of cultivars including white-, blue-, violet- and pink-flowered forms. The common name is derived from the chicken-wishbone-shaped stamens.
