Shrubby, woolly-white perennial herb to about 1m tall. Leaves elliptic to ovate, 5-10 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, grey-green, wrinkled above, densely woolly below, margin entire or round-toothed. Flower clusters in whorls one above the other. Flowers about 3 cm long, bright golden yellow; summer.

Foliage and flowers are used in pot-pourri.
