Hairless annual herb to about 60 cm tall. Leaves roundish, mostly 2-4 cm long and wide, hairless,margin round-toothed, stalk to 5 cm long. Flowers with calyx to 3 cm long, longer than the corolla which is 1.5-2 cm long, white to pink with lilac markings; spring to autumn.

E Mediterranean to W Asia

Naturalised in WA, SA, NSW and Vic mostly on disturbed sites.

Grown as an annual, often for the cut flowers and ornamental, papery, reticulate and everlasting expanded calyx.
