Lavandula multifida L.

Subshrub mostly less than 1m tall with branching stems. Leaves to about 4 cm long, grey-green, divided twice. Flower spike mostly 3-6 cm long, branched at the base. Bracts to 5 mm long, ovate and long-pointed. Flowers paired within the spike; fragrance musky. Calyx 15-veined, upper tooth without a protuberance. Petals to about 1.2 cm long, violet-purple; summer through to winter.

N Africa, S, C and SW Europe

Differs from L. canariensis in being a smaller plant with a thicker flower spike, grey-green leaves, long hairs and bracts with 3 veins.
