Perennial herb to about 1 m tall. Leaves to 30 cm or so long. Leaflets 19-27, lanceolate to elliptic, the terminal leaflet free from the others. Flower cluster open. Flowers 1-2.5 cm wide, blue or rarely white; spring to summer.
