Tree to 6 m high. Leaves 4-whorled; blade elliptic-obovate to broadly elliptic, up to 17 cm long and 7 cm wide; upper surface glossy green, glabrous; lower surface light green, glabrous; tip acute; base cuneate. Flowers 12-19 mm long, 12-14 mm wide; corolla cream. Fruit more or less 3-sided, 5-6 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, glossy red.

O. moorei (f. Muell.) Benth., Southern Ochrosia, from Queensland and New South Wales is a tree to 15 m high. Leaves opposite; blade lanceolate-elliptic, up to 12 cm long and 3 cm wide; upper surface glossy green, glabrous; lower surface pale green, glabrous; tip long-pointed; base cuneate. Flowers 11-13 mm long,14-16 mm wide; corolla creamy yellow. Fruit ellipsoid-ovoid, 6-7 cm long, 2.5-3.2 cm wide, glossy red.          An endangered species in its natural habitat.
