Wire Netting Bush

Densely branched shrub to over 2 m tall. Branchlets stiff, wide-spreading, forming a tangled mass. Leaves more or less obovate, to 1.5 cm long, 1 cm wide, often notched at the tip, tapering to the base; stalk to 2 cm long. Flower clusters terminal, axillary or flowers solitary; spring to early summer. Flowers bright yellow, 5-8 mm wide, sometimes fragrant. Fruit red or yellow, mostly 5-8 mm long.

The name 'Contorta' has been erroneously given to the true species.

New Zealand.

Branches zig-zagging and densely tangled.
