Arching shrub to 1.5 m tall. Leaves hairy with fine-toothed margins. Flowers to 2 cm wide in upright clusters, petals pink outside, whitish inside; early summer.
A hybrid D. parvifolia × D. purpurascens.
D. ×rosea (Lemoine) Rehder has similarly coloured flowers but differs in being a dwarf shrub with the hairs on the lower leaf surface having 4-6, not 7-8 rays; one of its cultivars is 'Carminea', an arching shrub with pale pink flowers. Int. Lemoine, 1900.
