Tree to about 25 m tall with new growth and petioles red in the spring. Leaflets 7, to 20 cm long, distinctly stalked. Flower clusters 20-30 cm long. Petals 4, the upper one white and longer, with a red-yellow patch at the base, the others pale pink. Fruit rough but not prickly. Uncommon in cultivation in Australia.
