Golden Rain Tree

Medium-sized, broad-crowned tree to 10 m or so tall with furrowed bark. Leaves compound, alternate, to about 35 cm long. Leaflets 9-15, more or less opposite, ovate-oblong, 4-8 cm long, coarsely round-toothed and often lobed at the base, at least a few stalked, yellow in autumn. Flowers yellow in erect clusters, slightly fragrant; summer. Fruit a balloon-like capsule to 5 cm long with papery walls narrowed into a pointed tip.

K. bipinnata Franch. and K. elegans (Seem.) A.C. Sm. are occasionally grown in specialist collections.
