Wild Quince

Small tree 5-10 m tall. New growth hairless or finely hairy. Leaves pinnate, 8-20 cm long. Leaflets 4-6, glossy above with prominent veins below, 6-14 cm long, 3-6 cm wide; margins mostly toothed. Flower clusters 10-15 cm long, open; spring. Fruit capsule about 15 cm wide, leathery or woody, with 2(3) lobes, the black seeds contained in a red, fleshy coat.
