Plant a succulent tree to 10 m high with a candelabra crown. All stems similar, 3-5- angled, up to 10 cm wide, pale green becoming grey with age. Stipular spines absent or in much reduced pairs. Leaves rudimentary, soon shed. Cyathophylls not showy, much reduced.
