Perennial herb to 70 cm high, multi-stemmed, each stem generally unbranched and biennial. Leaves alternate, clustered in rosette near the top of flowering stems; blades on stems oblong to oblanceolate, 3-7 cm long, 5-12 mm wide; blades in whorl-head oblong to oblanceolate, to 2 cm long, 8 mm wide, green with reddish flush; blades in floral head elliptic to triangular, about 10 mm long, 8 mm wide. Floral head an umbel with 5 rays, each 2 or 3 times 2-forked. Cyathia 2-3 mm wide; glands with horns, yellow.
