Common Dogwood

Deciduous shrub to about 3-4 m tall. Shoots sometimes reddish. Leaves ellipticovate, to about 10 cm long, reddish in autumn, slightly hairy on both surfaces, vein pairs 3-5. Flowers white, in dense clusters about 5 cm wide, fragrant; summer. Fruits purple-black, spherical, about 6 mm wide.
