Shrub or small tree to 7 m tall with corky bark. Leaves alternate or in whorls of 3, linear, 7-15 mm long, 1 mm wide, veins obscure, tip acute; stalk to 1 mm long. Flower spikes dense, 0.7-1.7 cm long. Flowers with stamens 5-7 mm long, 7-13 in a bundle, white; claw (stamen base) to 2 mm long. Fruit capsule 2.5-4 mm wide with a wavy rim produced by the sepal remains.
