Swamp Mahogany

Tree to 20 m or more. Bark rough, reddish and fibrous throughout. Juvenile leaves ovate. Adult leaves broadly lanceolate; blade mostly 10-15 cm long, 3-4.5 cm wide, glossy. Leaf stalk 2-3.5 cm long. Flowers in clusters of 9-15; common stalk flattened, mostly 1.5-3 cm long, individual stalks absent or to 1 cm long. Fruits mostly 1-2 cm long, 6-10 mm wide.

Grows naturally in coastal swampy sites as well as hillsides and open forest N of Rockhampton, Qld, S to Moruya, NSW.
