Flat-topped Yate

Tree mostly 15 m tall. Bark fibrous on trunk and major branches, smooth above. Juvenile leaves ovate. Adult leaves lanceolate, hook-tipped; blade mostly 8-15 cm long, mostly 1.5-2.5 cm wide, green, glossy. Leaf stalk mostly 1-1.5 cm long. Flowers in 7s, common stalk flattened, curved, to 2.5 cm long, individual stalks 4-6 mm long. Flower buds long-tipped. Fruits with thin stripes, mostly 1-1.5 cm long, 8-11mm wide.

Widely distributed in SW WA on alluvial soils. Planted in streets, parks and gardens.

SW WA. In Victoria occasionally spreading from planted trees.

Rough bark; glossy leaves; buds long-tipped.
