Red-flowered Moort

A small mallee to mostly 2 m tall. Bark greyish brown. Juvenile leaves lanceolate. Adult leaves lanceolate; blade mostly 6 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, green, thick, glossy with faint venation. Leaf stalk 1-2 cm long. Flowers in 7s, common stalk flattened, 1-2 cm long, curved; individual stalks absent or less than 5 mm. Flower buds horned and domed. Fruits with 2 ribs, mostly 1 cm long or slightly shorter.

Grows naturally on rocky hillsides in coastal areas. Widely grown in parks and gardens but variable in length and colour of flower cap.

Short leaves; 2-ribbed fruit; pinkish red stamens.
