Yellow Stringybark

Tree to 40 m tall. Bark fibrous, stringy, grey-brown. Juvenile leaves ovate, base often unequal. Adult leaves broadly lanceolate to lanceolate; blade 8-13 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, surfaces differently coloured, green, more or less glossy. Leaf stalk with groove,1.5-2 cm long. Flowers creamy white, in clusters of 7-11, common stalk 8-18 mm long, individual stalks 1-3 mm long; Nov-Mar. Fruits 7-10 mm long, 8-12 mm wide.

Grows naturally in tall, open forest along E coast from near Sydney to Sealers Cove,Wilsons Promontory in Vic.
