Warty Yate

Tree to 10 m or so tall. Bark smooth throughout, greyish brown or red. Juvenile leaves ovate. Adult leaves thick, elliptic to lanceolate; lamina 6-8.5 cm long, mostly 1.5-2 cm wide, green, glossy. Leaf stalk 0.5-1 cm long. Flower clusters greenish yellow, 7-flowered; cluster stalk 2.5-4 cm long, becoming curved. Flower buds very warty, Aug-Nov. Fruits bell-shaped, 2-4 cm long, 1-ribbed, sides warty, top striated.

Occurs naturally in woodland on rocky outcrops of the Ravensthorpe Range.

Planted in schools, parks and gardens.

WA. Sparingly established in Victoria.

Warty cap on flowers; 1-ribbed large fruits.
