Cup Gum

Small tree or mallee, 2-10 m tall. Bark smooth to rough throughout but generally with a rough base. Juvenile leaves stalked, opposite at first, becoming alternate, ovate. Adult leaves dull, lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, pale to grey-green, leathery. Leaf stalk thick, flattened, 1.5-2.5 cm long. Flowers axillary, in 3s, common stalk angular or flattened, to mostly 1 cm long, individual flowers more or less stalkless, buds ovoid to roundish, pink, 1-2 cm long. Fruits 1-2 cm wide, cup-shaped with a thick rim and 4-5 valves to rim level.
