Yellow Bloodwood

Tree to 12 m or more tall. Juvenile leaves oblong-lanceolate. Adult leaves lanceolate, sickle-shaped; blade 13-20 cm long, 1.3-3 cm wide, green. Leaf stalk flattened, 1.5-2.5 cm long. Flowers terminal in compound clusters, creamy white to yellow, in clusters of 7, the common stalk flat or cylindrical,1-2.5 cm long, individual stalks absent or short to 2 mm long,Aug-Oct. Fruits ovoid or urn-shaped,1.5-2 cm long,1-1.5 cm wide, occasionally faintly striped.

Grows naturally on the Hawkesbury sandstone soils around Sydney in woodland and dry sclerophyll forest.

Bark plate-like and papery; leaves large, lanceolate and with a prominent midvein; fruits virtually stalkless, often with wrinkles or stripe-like ridges.
