An evergreen tree 5-10 m tall. Leaves lanceolate or narrowly ovate, 10-12 cm long, 2.5-4 cm wide, dark green and fairly shiny above, paler below, strongly lemonscented when crushed; stalk 1.5-2 cm long. Flower clusters in upper leaf axils. Flowers with sepals 3 long, 2 short; spring to summer. Petals soon shed. Stamens longer than the sepals.
