Erect shrub to about 3 m tall. Leaves clustered on short lateral branchlets, linear, 0.5-1.5 cm long, to 1mm wide, 3-angled. Flowers white or pink, about 0.5 cm wide; mostly spring to summer but also at other times. Petals 2-3 mm long. Stamens fused to half their length into 5 bundles opposite the sepals, 3-8 per bundle. Syn. Baeckea astarteoides Benth.

B. heteranthera C.A. Gardn. from WA is also occasionally offered and very similar, but differs in having flower stalks longer than the leaves.
CULTIVAR OF HYBRID ORIGIN 'Winter Pink' Flowers pale pink, about 1 cm wide.
