Cuphea hyssopifolia Humb., Bonpl. & Kunth

False Heather

Subshrub to about 0.5 m tall. Leaves linear-lanceolate to about 2 cm long, dark green and glossy, crowded, the margins scalloped or entire. Flowers axillary on stalks to nearly 1 cm long. Calyx tube green. Petals 6, lilac with pink or white veins; summer to autumn.

Mexico, Guatemala.

Cultivars listed include 'Alba', 'Bianca', 'Cocktail', 'Golden Ruby', 'Louisa', 'Rob's Mauve' and 'Star White'.
