Shrub or tree to 20 m or more in the wild. Leaves ovate to lanceolate, mostly 5-10 cm long, 1-4 cm wide, leathery, with 3 longitudinal veins. Flower cluster usually terminal, of 10-20 flowers each. Perianth 1-2 cm long, yellowish; spring to summer. Fruit 4-6 cm long; seeds about 1 cm long.
