Dense shrub to about 1.5 m tall. Leaves mostly 5-10 cm long, pinnately divided 2-3 times, stiff, sharply pointed, hairless. Flower clusters ovoid, terminal, solitary, 2-3 cm long. Flowers 1-1.5 cm long, cream to yellow sometimes suffused with green, highly perfumed; spring. Fruiting cones ovoid, 1-3 cm long.
