Shrub or small tree to about 5 m tall with red flaky bark. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic or spoon-shaped,mostly 7-12 cm long,1.5-8 cm wide. Flowers solitary with scale leaves at the base, hairy; summer. Ovary hairless.
