Hakea salicifolia (Vent.) B.L.

Burtt Willow-leaved Hakea

Large shrub or small tree with attractive peeling brown bark. Leaves narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, mostly 5-10 cm long, up to 2 cm wide, lateral veins obscure. Flower clusters axillary, of 4-9 flowers. Flowers white, hairless, fragrant; spring. Fruit single or paired, roundish, about 2 cm long and wide with large blunt-tipped warts and an upturned beak. Syn. H. saligna (Andr.) Knight.

A compact form with narrow leaves 2-4 mm wide is used for screening.
