Silver-grey shrub to 2 m tall. Leaves to 15 cm long, divided into 4-16 silky-hairy linear lobes. Flower clusters hanging, occasionally 2-branched, more or less 1-sided, borne within the foliage. Flowers pale pink to orange with a green-yellow base; late winter to early summer. Style greenish pink with a green tip. Fruit hairless, rough with a ridged base.
Occasionally available as a prostrate form.
