Shrub with 1 trunk, to about 4 m tall. Leaves pine-like, up to 25 cm long with 5-10 narrow, linear lobes with the margins rolled under to be double-grooved. Flower clusters spidery, mostly unbranched. Flowers pink with creamy base, slightly hairy; spring. Style red. Fruit hairy.
