Small tree to 5 m or more tall. Leaves to 30 cm long, simple, or more frequently divided into 2-7 long, linear lobes; margins curled under. Flower clusters occasionally branched, slightly protruding from the foliage, dense, more or less 1-sided. Flowers with overall orange appearance; early spring to late summer. Style yellow to orange. Fruit hairy.
