Spreading shrub to 2 m tall and often much wider. Leaves to 5 cm long and about 1 cm wide, obovate with rounded lobes at the tip, occasionally entire, margins rolled under, lower surface hairless or with few hairs. Flower clusters ovoid, mostly axillary and sometimes branched. Flowers white or creamy white; spring. Style creamy white. Fruit rough.
Sometimes available under the incorrectly applied names G. biternata and G. tridentifera.
