A dense shrub to about 1m tall. Leaves entire, to about 12 cm long,1 cm wide, linear to obovate, margins bent under, lower surface silky-hairy. Flower clusters hanging, mostly unbranched, flat-topped to wheel-like. Flowers scarlet or orange-red or dull red, often with a dark style end, hairy both inside and out; winter to spring. Fruit hairy.
