Erect, spineless shrub to 2 m tall. Leaves simple, mostly 1-4 cm long, 0.5-1.5 cm wide, hairless to silky-hairy. Flowers sometimes branched. Flowers with the corolla 1-1.5 cm long. Fruit pod linear-lanceolate, 2-3 cm long, containing 6-12 seeds.
Grown mostly in traditional herb gardens. Yields a yellow dye.
