Evergreen shrub to 2 m or so tall with ridged branchlets. Leaves stalked and with 3 obovate leaflets mostly 1-2 cm long, the tip blunt or notched. Flowers yellow, in clusters of 3-9 on short sideshoots mostly less than 5 cm long. Fruit 2-3 cm long, more or less hairy and variously shaped.
W Asia to SE Europe.
