Shrub to 2 m tall with arching branches. Leaves rhomboid to obovate, bluish below, hairless; margins with mostly rounded teeth, sometimes with 3-5 lobes at the tip. Flowers white, with rounded petals, in flat-topped clusters; summer. Fruits spreading outwards.
A garden hybrid, S. cantoniensis × S. trilobata, possibly raised by Billard of Fontenay-aux-Roses, France, c. 1862.
