Spiraea nipponica Maxim.

Deciduous hairless shrub to about 2 m tall. New shoots reddish. Leaves broadly ovate to obovate or round, to about 2.5 cm long, mostly with a few rounded teeth at the tip or occasionally entire. Flowers white, in small, short clusters on the old wood; late spring to early summer.
