A domed, deciduous tree to 10 m or so tall. Leaves 15-20 cm long, with 13-17 leaflets and winter buds hairless, not sticky. Leaflets elliptic to oblong, 2.5-4 cm long, with teeth confined largely to the top half, deep crimson in autumn. Fruits about 7 mm wide, white becoming pink.
